2023: 90th anniversary HEAD OF THE RIVER AMSTEL

Welcome to the Head, Welcome to Amsterdam!

The Head of the River will start the Dutch rowing season on 11 and 12 of March 2023. Both national and international crews will compete during the Championship of the Amstel.
2023 will be the 90th anniversary of the competition. The first edition of this unique long distance event was held in 1933.

New events at the Head 2023

During the Head 2023 it will be possible to start some new events. Starting, there will be a pre-master 4* and 8+ for men and women. These events will be open for participants between the age of 22 and 32, not coming from one rowing club.

We are also looking at the possibility to add Coastal Endurance rowing with Coastal 4* for women and men.
